Enjoy the personalized attention and comprehensive care you deserve from an independent, local physician.
A Southern California native, Dr. Morris obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine. While obtaining his bachelors, he conducted research using bedside ultrasonography at the UC Irvine Medical Center and attended community college where he obtained his certification as an Emergency Medical Technician. He then worked full-time as an EMT where he provided 9-1-1 ambulance transport for 34 cities within Los Angeles and Orange Counties. While preparing for medical school, he shifted towards pharmaceutical research, where he conducted phase III clinical trials for the only over the counter inhaler approved for asthma.
Dr. Morris later attended the Medical College of Wisconsin where he received his Doctorate in Medicine (M.D.). Upon completing medical school, Dr. Morris returned home where he completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Loma Linda University Medical Center with an emphasis on point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). Following training, he moved to Santa Barbara where he worked as an emergency physician for the local hospital system and participated on the local hospital committees. A year into the COVID-19 pandemic, he ventured out of the emergency department becoming the lead physician of two local hybrid primary care / urgency care centers. He later returned to emergency medicine while also doing urgent care and even gained experience as a hospitalist. In 2023, Dr. Morris took over the concierge primary care practice of local internist Dr. Dennis Baker. Today, Dr. Morris has his independent concierge medical practice located in Santa Barbara.
Dr. Morris has professionally taken care of patients in nearly every clinical setting ranging from pre-hospital (including helicopter), hospital, primary care, urgent care, in addition to the emergency department. He completed his medical training at two very large, highly specialized institutions that included their own organ transplant centers, cancer and chemotherapy centers, as well as their own Children's Hospitals, familiarizing himself with a vast array of complex medicine. His professional interest lies in the use of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), where Dr. Morris received an additional formal certification in "emergency ultrasound" while at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Today he uses his own personal ultrasound in nearly every patient encounter as he believes it provides him with more accurate, real-time data aiding him in making an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan. He also has a profound interest in technology, including AI, as well as staying up to date on emerging new therapies. I grew up as a child admiring the "general physician." The era where it was not uncommon for a physician to start their own practice and handle everything from preventative care to chronic care and urgent care needs. A time when the physician would work alongside other specialists and coordinate care providing a holistic approach. When the patient showed up, the staff knew the patient and the patient knew the staff. Not only would they see one another when they were sick, but also when they were healthy. Most importantly, there was mutual trust between the two. The office was considered a safe place. A place where everyone could be open and honest knowing they will always be treated with empathy. After doing the formal training and practicing in some of the best healthcare centers across the nation, this is unfortunately becoming harder and harder to find due to modern constraints on the current healthcare model. Patients are often left with brief physician encounters after waiting months, often only to see a mid-level practitioner (who are still great by the way). Unable to find a practical model myself and knowing there had to be a better model, Jason Morris MD was created in 2022.
This practice is meant to be truly comprehensive, meaning it is meant to work with your insurance to provide preventative care, chronic care and urgent care needs. This also includes referrals to specialists and any surgical clearance. Note: I do not admit patients or provide care for patients while in the hospital. However, if hospitalized locally, I do visit patients while hospitalized and work alongside your medical team. My office is equipped with modern technologies including ultrasound, EKG, and other AI healthcare technologies. I do have capability for in-office phlebotomy, blood/urine/respiratory testing as well as intravenous therapy (limited availability). Staples of the membership include:
I like to say Emergency Medicine is more like my first love but medicine is my passion. The reason I fell in love with Emergency Medicine in the first place was that it kept me prepared for any situation that may come my way. Given I still do love Emergency Medicine, I continue to practice as both an emergency medicine physician and hospitalist physician although only one weekend each month.
Please note that we operate by appointment only. Kindly schedule a visit in advance to ensure we can provide you with our full attention.
